| This service is more or less the reverse of the 'SourceInformationOriginQueryService'. It aims to retrieve all the assertions that are directly or indirectly associated with a specified information source. This query service is important because it allows analysts to selectively include and exclude particular services in order to compile a tactical picture of the operational theatre. In an example use case an analyst might be presented with a situation (defined in terms of a subset of the total number of entities in a domain, itself established by the execution of other query services) and a source hierarchy (a taxonomy of information sources). They can then select or deslect particular information sources and rebuild the tactical picture representation of the situation in order to assess the impact on situation awareness. Note that the operation of this query can be used to assess the importance of particular information sources in terms of the contribution they make to a particular situation and situation awareness. |
