Subject: Waiting at base camp

Posted by Rob on 27 May 2005 09:42 GMT+1 14:27 NST

We came back up to base camp on 27 May with a glint of dropping winds and a chance to go for the top. There are an estimated 120 people from other groups at camp 2 waiting, while we are still at base camp. But this morning’s forecast (27 May) says no summit window yet, too much wind. So we wait. The long range forecast says we have a good chance the first few days of June, so we are holding out. Around June they have to close the icefall as it gets too warm, so it is down to the wire and getting late.

Crossing fingers didn't work before, so please think of something else!

Otherwise in good spirits and health. Back to my book...

Rob

Boy what a long slow wait, enough to make your hair turn white, We know it's tough but hang in there. If any of the 120 make it we're sure you will be one of them. Be safe and get er done.

Looks like you'll have quite a tan, ROb upon your return from such a hostile climate :-). May the snxow angels guide you to the top and safely all the way back for warm loving hugs, and joyoxus 4carat reunion.

Wow! I am just back from 2 weeks holiday and hoped to hear you had made it. The waiting must be very hard once you know you are fit enough and ready for the summit. Stick with it Rob and hopefully the wind will drop soon. Best wishes again for when the moment arrives Good Luck Graham
