Using Odyssey, USCP J30-OPT calls the OPT together via the paging function in Odyssey...
Notes:
During the morning OPS/INTELL brief, the CINC has directed the OPT to take a look at the situation and prepare some potential options. The J30-OPT, Assistant Deputy for Crisis Operations, notifies the OPT of the task and schedules a meeting. The OPT is comprised of fifteen (or so) selected USCP staff members representing each of the major staff directorates, plus representation from the USCP components. In order to summon the OPT to the virtual Operations Planning Room, Odyssey alerts the OPT members by sending a pager signal which alerts each member to “meet” in the Operations Planning Room by signing on at the Odyssey web site at his or her workstation on the USCP LAN or via SIPRNET. Odyssey utilizes password protection to control access to virtual rooms.
In addition to the regular members of the OPT, COMSEVENTHFLT and III MEF are invited to the OPT meeting, since the Drapan situation suggests a Navy-Marine Corps response. Because of the obvious diplomatic implications, the U. S. embassy in Jakarta is also invited to participate in the meeting.
During the course of the OPT meeting, the OPT reviews the information available on the situation and offers initial observations. Access to the CIP is available to the OPT via the VSB.Through Facilitate.com some initial brainstorming is accomplished on tasks that can be expected.
