In Washington, IWG forms to evaluate the situation...
...as the USCP TAG monitors the Drapan situation, viewing the CIP via the VSB.
Notes:
DOS (and probably, by this time, CNN) notifies the NCA and the CJCS of the situation, triggering a convening of the Interagency Working Group (IWG) monitoring the situation in Neolesia. The members of the IWG shown may be joined by other agencies as the crisis develops and the NCA considers different options.
The Crisis Information Package (CIP) for Neolesia is expanded to include a page for this phase of the crisis. Note that USCP moves information from the IWG CIP (which is SCI HIGH) to the CINC’s SECRET HIGH crisis environment. IWG members add to the CIP via individual Virtual Situation books (VSBs), updating information available to them and adding their respective agency’s assessment. Significantly, USCP, as the geographic CINC, is a member of the IWG. Updating the USCP VSB is the responsibility of the USCP Thematic Action Group (TAG), formed from among the USCP staff specifically to monitor the Neolesian situation. In the early stages of a crisis, the TAG will provide an update to the CINC on a weekly basis. This forms the core of the formal CINC’s Assessment to the NCA and is maintained in the USCP VSB, where it is accessible to key members of the USCP staff.
To allow the TAG to perform its work collaboratively yet without the burden of centralized meetings, an Odyssey virtual Situation Room has been established. TAG members may “enter” the Situation Room at any time to view or update the VSB, collect other information on the crisis, or meet with other TAG members.
