Brainstorm possible CoGs
- type: Activity
- Id: Brainstorm possible CoGs
- Documentation: Check strategic (including non-military) CoGs first, then operational
CoGs
- Status:
- Predecessor:
- Successor:
- Component:
- Doer: Checkmate say the planning staff - 8-10 people
- Owner: Chief of plans
- Resource: Staff (implies experience and points of view); augmented by otehr staff? (maybe logistics guy or legal guy - check Checkmate tape); situationalassessment; specific intelligence documents (e.g roads in country YOC); Order of Batlle Information (OBE) (numbers, types and deployment of forces); enemy intent (needed before completion); CinC objectives are NOT needed (parallel or interleaved activities, in reality)
- Interval: Initial set - 80%
Always revisitig, to fill out list of CoGs, and to decompose them. Checkmate never actually said anything about revisiting it, but Doug thinks they pobably do.
CoGs probbly get (at least ) vlidated informally on a regular basis throughout the campaign. Is there a formal process?
Prioritzing: CinC objectives may be "use these resources fo these operations" or "I want you to go nd get Scuds - now". CoGs pobbly prioritzed as well (and prioriies adapted during campaign)
- Pre-Condition: See resources; guidance is the ony real precondition (otherwise you dont know who the enemy is!) Situation assessment is desirable.
- see Spansih AF exercise (XOO asked lots of culturl questions before doing CoG anlysis)
- Effect: list of CoGs (Doug calims a weighing on those) - written down???
