Fireball XL5 - Original Model - Bruce Brachman

A 3-D Computer-Aided Design Model of Fireball XL5 created by Bruce Brachman, an American Computer Graphic Artist and fan of Gerry Anderson's Supermarionation TV shows.

The Fireball XL5 model was created in trueSpace 2 by Caligari for the PC/Windows platform. It took approx. 2.5 days on and off to create on a 90 Mhz Pentium IBM PC with 16 Kb RAM and a 540Mb hard drive. The sample images of the Fireball XL5 model on backgrounds were created in Photoshop 3.0 by Bruce Brachman.

Formats Available

Original Model - Caligari OBject (COB) Format
The model is available as a ZIP archive of the model in trueSpace2 .COB (Caligari OBject) format (which also imports fine into trueSpace1 and trueSpace3). This is the original model as created by Bruce Brachman. Surface textures are included in these archives. Please see this Read Me file for instructions on using the model.
Original Model - 3D Studio Max Format
A port of the Cinema 4D Revision 1 Fireball XL5 to 3D Studio Max by Mateen Greenway is available xl5_max.zip (442KB ZIP archive).
Original Model - DXF Format
Also available is an exported version in DXF format. Surface textures are included in this ZIP archive also though the DXF file will normally import into CAD packages without surface information.
The .DXF file has been successfully used with AutoCAD release 12. Please see this Read Me file for instructions on using the model.

Revision 1 - Cinema 4D Format
A Cinema 4D version of the Fireball XL5 model by Austin Tate based on Bruce Brachman's original DXF format model, with added details, Fireball Junior interior detail and extra textures is available xl5_c4d.zip (1,207KB ZIP archive).
Revision 1 - Other Formats
Additional formats exported from the Cinema 4D revised version are provided to help other modellers. But these have not been tested and are known to have some parts aligned incorrectly (e.g. in the 3DS version) or textures not applied (e.g. in the DXF version).

Revision 2a Model - Bryce 3D Format
A Bryce 3D version of the Fireball XL5 model by Robin Day, based on the DXF format of the Cinema 4D revised version by Austin Tate, itself based on the Bruce Brachman original DXF format model xl5_b3d.zip (2.75MB ZIP archive).
