Second Life and other emerging massive on-line persistent 3-D virtual
world environments are set to follow the 2-D web as an essential
element of future computing systems.

Our speaker, Austin Tate, Director of the Artificial Intelligent
Applications Institute in the School of Informatics, and his SL
counterpart 'AI Austin', will discuss current activity in Second Life,
explore how companies and organisations are using it in their business
now, and look at potential developments in upcoming Virtual Worlds.

The talk will describe work in the Virtual University of Edinburgh -
Vue - and what some University projects are doing in the Vue regions
in Second Life. "AIAI2" has an office in Second Life.  It is a base
for a range of collaborative systems work with others academics,
government agencies and industry.  Why?  What is it used for? Where is
this leading?  Can this be beneficial to you?
