The World Simulator (WorldSim) is a message-based discrete event simulator which features:

WorldSim has been designed as a general purpose simulator and thus, is able to simulate a multitude of user defined worlds. However, as part of the WorldSim release, the world of Pacifica is provided.

The world of Pacifica is a testbed for studying transportation planning/scheduling, logistics, and Non-combatant Evacuation Operation (NEO) scenarios. It draws upon data from the PRECiS/Pacifica Environment to define a fictional domain that is a suitably realistic for studying such scenarios. Scenarios in this domain are based on a hypothetical theater of operations called the island of Pacifica.

WorldSim has been developed during Ph.D research by Glen A. Reece that was funded by an Augmentation Award for Scientific and Research Training (AASERT) from the US Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR). This research was associated with the O-Plan project at Edinburgh funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) and US Air Force Rome Laboratory under the ARPA/Rome laboratory Planning Initiative (ARPI).

WorldSim runs under UNIX, X-Windows and (Lucid) Common Lisp. WorldSim is available (worldsim-16-oct-95.tar.Z)

WorldSim is provided "as is" with no support from AIAI. It was primarily the result of Ph.D Student work by Glen Reece while working with the O-Plan Team at the University of Edinburgh. The system may be used for non-profit research and education.
