Appendix to Installation Guide

This document follows the Installation Guide: HARDY to give instruction on installing the
patches and the various diagram definitions for VALSIE.

Prior to the following instructions, you should have carried out the installation specified
in the Installation Guide: HARDY provided by AIAI.

Installation of the Patches:

With the PC disk named 'Patches', do the following:

1. Unzip the file 'patches.zip' into the HARDY source directory.

2. To build the latest version of HARDY, follow the 'build' instruction specified in the
User Guide.

3. Note that for convenience, the most updated HARDY.exe is supplied with the
disk. To install it, unzip the file 'gryphon.zip'.

Installation of VALISE:

There are two ways to install VALISE. We have provided the executable so you can simply
copy the file VALISE.exe from the floppy to the hard disk.

In addition if you would like to build VALISE from HARDY, do the following:

Copy the files from a:\custom to the hard disk, follow the instructions provided in the
User Guide of HARDY to develop custom code with HARDY. This involves first of all build a
HARDY.lib and link to the custom code.

Once the executable is ready, do the following to install the definition and diagram files:

1 Copy all the files found in a:\def and a:\dia to the same directory.

2 To run VALISE, you can either type win valise at the DOS prompt or create an icon in your
program manager to invoke VALISE within window.

Note that these diagram type definition files can also be run with HARDY. Only that with HARDY,
the extra capabilities that are implemented with the custom code will not be available.
