Austin Tate: I-Rooms Austin Tate’s research uses intelligent agents and planning technology to support distributed collaboration, especially in areas such as emergency response. The work is focused on the creation of an I-Room – a virtual space for intelligent interaction. I-Room technology includes: Social Web Intelligent Agents Planning Technology Virtual Worlds I-Rooms have also been used for applications as diverse as: operations centres that support distributed teams responding to emergencies and crises the creation of Multi-media products through support to team meetings for a game production company the Virtual World of Whisky to support a Scotch Whisky retailer in reaching its customers via tutored tastings. I-Rooms provide a focus for a wide range of research and students projects at Edinburgh and beyond.
