Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence and Bioinformatics

My research interests lie in the potential machine learning and data mining techniques and technologies hold to assist with the analysis and interpretation of biomedical data. This also includes the use of knowledge representation techniques such as ontologies and techniques from areas such as soft computing and statistics. My research work has involved the use of Machine Learning techniques to perform data mining upon Proteomic data sets, in particular in the area of 2-D Electrophoresis Gel post-experimentation data and microarray expression data. This work has been further extended to other spatio-temporal domains, including robotics. I am based at the University of Edinburgh's 5*A Informatics research department. More research details>>
