Advanced Knowledge Technologies Interdisciplinary Research
Collaboration (AKT IRC) project
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council
(EPSRC) funds the AKT IRC, a six-year, 7.5 millions pounds
interdisciplinary research collaboration between internationally
recognised research groups at the Universities of Aberdeen,
Edinburgh, Sheffield, Southampton and the Open
University. The project duration is 2000/7/1-2006/6/30 and with
addition extension period.
This project is to develop and integrate relevant AI techniques
in the larger process of knowledge management. Various public web

My work area in this project is enterprise (including business
process) modelling, workflow management, knowledge sharing and
inconsistency checking among multiple enterprise models. An
informal area that stores my work is here.
- Collaborative Advanced Knowledge Technologies
(CoAKTinG) in the Grid Project
The CoAKTinG (Collaborative Advanced Knowledge Technologies in the
Grid) project, started in June 2002 and runs for 24 months. The total
funding is 0.5 million pounds and funded by the UK e-Science
- Workflow Management in the Grid
This is commercial consultancy work that involves
introducing and applying process modelling and workflow management
technologies to the application of Grid in Taiwan.
- Process and Workflow Management Commercial
This is a commercial project that involves introducing and
applying relevant Artificial Intelligence, Business
Process Modelling, Ontology and Workflow techniques, that are
applicable to Knowledge Management in a large US software company.
- Consultancy projects
This includes several private commercial consultancy projects with
companies, including Royal Bank of Scotland.
Applied AI Techniques in Knowledge Management
The course gives a general overview on applied AI Techniques in the
field of Knowledge Management. Several case studies on past projects using
specific AI techniques are also included to give insights on the techniques
and how they may be used in practice. Methods vs. methodologies of applying
such techniques are provided which delivers the practical know-how knowledge.
The course includes practical exercises that are directly relevant to
the concerned topics and course material.
Multi-Perspective Enterprise Model Development Project
This is an Enterprise Modelling project for US Air Operations, The Air
Operations Enterprise Modelling (AOEM) Project. This project is a part of
JFACC, a DARPA funded program:
