Subject: Re: Supercar, Black Rock Lab, etc. To: Austin Tate From: Carlton Vaulx Date: Fri, 10 May 2019 21:09:25 +0200 Fixing Normals I went in and downloaded my sc_blender_rev1 blend file from the site to see what I did and did not do at the time (2014, yow !) and found that I hadn't done quite a few things that I would now without much thought. Recalculating the normals for that section, I did not do. I took some screenies of my process with Blender. PBR Shaders I figure my thinking at the time was, "if it's rendering ok in Blender, then it's good." The Lab became my focus and I knew that was going to be a doozy. Actually my true intentions were to eventually go back in and set them all-n-everything up for the "cycles" renderer, which I did do (to a certain degree). Shortly after all that, PBR texturing became all the rage, so I started in on that as the devs had come up with "The Principled BSDF shader (https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/render/cycles/nodes/types/shaders/principled.html)." It's also worth noting here, too that starting with 2.80 the Blender renderer (and the game engine) will no longer be part of the package. For those looking to use these models (as they are now) in Blender 2.80 and beyond will need to switch all textures over to the principled shader.
