Managing an organisational memory should be considered a multi-disciplinary activity that requires some understanding of other areas.

AI gives us techniques to model and represent knowledge

social sciences gives us techniques to understand how knowledge is used and people pool their knowledge

management sciences gives us insights to business use

economics gives insights into understanding the operational value of knowledge assets.

This disucssion panel focuses specically on how the many discilipines within informatics can support organisational memories.

My own Institute has been concerned with how specific aspects of AI, namely modelling, ontologies and planning techniques can support knowledge management.
