Note that prior to the above date, this directory was a symbolic link; 
the link has now been removed, but *may* have to be reinstated should 
problems occur.

The directory was as follows:

/group/aiai/openvce/html/resources/files
which was a link to:
../sites/default/files/ (i.e.: /group/aiai/openvce/html/sites/default/files/)
(reinstate with: ln -s ../sites/default/files/ files)

Note too that since this link points to a location within the Drupal file
hierarchy, it may be necessary to modify .htaccess in order to produce the
desired effect.
