INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING THE OSPREY-300 CARD UNDER VISTA ----------------------------------------------------------- 1. Insert the Osprey card into a spare PCI slot in the PC. 2. Reboot the PC, log in as an administrator user, let it recognise the added hardware, but cancel the wizard that will attempt to install appropriate drivers. 3. Copy the latest Osprey drivers and utilities folder to a convenient place on the PC. 4. Enter the folder and right-click on the latest Osprey executable file (eg Osprey4.4.0.36.exe) and select "Run as administrator". This will start the self-extraction program. Select a suitable target directory for the extraction (eg D:/temp) and uncheck "When done unzipping open setup.exe", and then click on "Unzip". 5. Select "Computer" > "Properties" > "Device Manager" and then select "Action > Scan for hardware changes". This should detect the two new Osprey devices (one video and one audio), and start an installation wizard. Select the option that allows the location of the drivers to be manually supplied, and then supply the location of the unzipped drivers, eg: "D:\temp\program files\ViewCast\Osprey AVStream\Drivers\Osprey 300" 6. Once the drivers have been successfully installed, start ("Run as administrator") the Osprey setup wizard, eg: "D:\temp\program files\setup.exe" This should offer the alternatives of making a "complete install" or a "custom install" of the supplied software. Select "custom install" and then select everything except the drivers for installation (ie. de-select the drivers option). Then allow the wizard to complete its install. 7. At this point, the card should be installed and operational. Assuming that you have an appropriate hardware video source connected to the card, it can be tested using the SwiftCap application, which should now be accessible from the Start Menu: "All programs > ViewCast > AVStream > Utilities > SwiftCap" ...and select Preview to see the input stream. 8. Since it was omitted from the custom install, you may wish to copy the temporary drivers directory onto the C drive for completeness - in which case copy the folder: "D:\temp\program files\ViewCast\Osprey AVStream\Drivers" to "C:\Program Files\ViewCast\Osprey AVStream"
