We have developed a methodology from our reviews of the literature on human behaviour in emergencies, existing expertise within AEA TECHNOLOGY CONSULTANCY SERVICES and discussions with personnel from within the project sponsor companies, particularly Shell and Texaco.
We have developed a tool to support the methodology by developing and integrating our model of people's decision making, MOBEDIC (Modelling Behavioural Decisions In Computer), with AEA's model of how people move (the Movement Model). The result is that people's movement is modified by factors such as their reactions to alarms and hazards, their familiarity with the installation, their training and their duties.
